sumgui Really nice set of tracks, not fussed on the monkey ones, but all others are very pleasant indeed :) "Red over green" is surreal beaut; definite nominee for playing at my funeral track. "He said (...)" is also delightful. "Swiftlings" requires a mention which is a remix, but is as interesting as it is pleasing to the ears and soul. I consider each track to be good on their own. Great Album! Favorite track: Red Over Green.

Planet Mu present the second album by Manchester’s Mrs Jynx aka Hannah Davidson. The deceptively intelligent ‘Shark Carousel’ builds on the early ’90s electronic influenced sound of Jynx’s debut. There’s a little more emphasis on lower frequencies and slightly more upbeat arrangements, but all the femininity, sensitivity and joy that made 2008’s ‘The Standoffish Cat’ so endearing are intact. Traces of big beat, break beat and even old school drum & bass influences can be heard prominently throughout the record, while her programming has advanced in complexity and richness. ‘Shark Carousel’ carves off a corner of the electronic realm that is clearly Mrs Jynx’s.

Big ups to Brian Grainger for this fine release by Mrs. Jynx on his Recycled Plastics, label. I first heard Davidson’s music after listening to her Planet Mu LPs. There’s something about her sound that’s slightly reminiscent of Mike Paradina’s more playful melodic work, which appealed to me immediately.
